Chocolate

While cocoa is a tropical fruit tree with strict environmental requirements, Pingtung is the only environment suitable for cocoa cultivation. Through the cooperation between central and local governments, the agricultural innovation policy has changed from green-yellow betel nut to black yellow cocoa. Therefore, cocoa gradually became a typical industry of Pingtung. Under the research and development of merchants, cocoa was converted into many different commodities. Due to the specificity of Pingtung cocoa, the chocolate produced here has become a must-buy item for tourists in recent years.

Coffee

The history of coffee in Taiwan dates back to the Japanese occupation. At that time, the Japanese tried to grow Arabica in the mountains. However, after defeating the battle and withdrawing from the country, the coffee trees were abandoned. The Paiwan people then started to grow and harvest the seeds sporadically, but the processing, production and trading were not efficient until the local coffee production cooperative was established. A coffee bean processing factory was built, and started training human resources for coffee roasting. Through each step of production and business, these coffee brands gradually become firmly established in this field.

Onion

Onion is still one of the main economic crops in Hengchun Peninsula. Due to the poor gravel soil of Hengchun Peninsula and the strong downhill wind in winter, it is suitable for onions' fruitiness. The stronger the downhill wind, the better the quality of the onion, especially the sweetness and juiciness. It is easy to make some simple salad but delicious. When you drive to Hengchun, you can see roadside vendors calling Onions on Ping-E Highway. This has already been a unique landscape in Hengchun.

In addition to a bag of onions, the local store has creatively transformed onions from the dining table into snacks and desserts. What remains unchanged is the sweet and spicy taste of onions. When you arrive in Hengchun, you must bring them back to your family to taste.
